Product description
Familia Schroeder "S" Malbec comes from the southernmost wine region of Argentina, where the cooler climate and significant diurnal temperature variation help create particularly intense aromas and a firm, fresh acidity. Its deep purple color in the glass already hints at the concentrated, rich character in which both the variety and the terroir clearly shine through.
On the nose, ripe blackberry, raspberry and plum dominate, complemented by subtle peppery and spicy notes. In the background, delicate floral tones reminiscent of violets appear, adding an elegant, layered aromatic profile. The fruit and spice are well balanced, clearly defined yet never overpowering.
On the palate the wine is full-bodied, dense and fleshy. Alongside ripe plum, blackberry and raspberry, a gently jammy character emerges, kept in balance by lively acidity and a firm structure. The spiciness – recalling black pepper with light anise and herbal nuances – further enriches the flavor profile. The wine coats the mouth, with a smooth yet distinctive texture.
The finish is long and persistent, with red berries, plum, and fine spicy, slightly licorice-like notes returning at the end. Despite its youth it is already enjoyable, and its structure and concentration suggest that a few years of bottle aging can bring additional complexity and roundness.
Serving suggestions
Familia Schroeder "S" Malbec pairs especially well with rich red meat dishes, grilled foods, spiced beef and lamb, as well as aged semi-hard cheeses. For best enjoyment, consider brief decanting to allow the aromas to fully open up. Ideal serving temperature is 61–64 °F (16–18 °C).
Its style and structure make it an appealing choice for lovers of Bordeaux-style wines, as it combines ripe fruit, spice and fresh acidity in a harmonious whole. This Malbec is a refined yet characterful red wine that offers a memorable experience both on its own and alongside food.
