Jorge Rubio Gran Reserva Malbec Bicentenario – premium Argentine Malbec
Jorge Rubio Gran Reserva Malbec Bicentenario is a carefully selected wine from the finest vineyards of the “Oasis Sur Mendoza” region, created in tribute to the bicentennial of Argentina’s independence. This limited, meticulously crafted red highlights the best qualities of classic Argentine Malbec in a refined, full-flavored style.
Origin and winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand with careful bunch and berry selection from the dry, sun-drenched southern areas of Mendoza. The region’s climate favors slow ripening, allowing the berries to develop rich concentration and intense aromas before reaching the winery.
The base wine undergoes a long, temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve the Malbec variety’s characteristic fruitiness and deep color. It is then aged for 18–24 months in first-use oak barrels, resulting in layered complexity, subtle spiciness, and rounded tannins.
Aroma and flavor
The wine shows a deep, intense ruby red color with purple hues. On the nose, ripe dark berries – plum, blackberry, black cherry – dominate, supported by vanilla, cocoa, coffee, and gentle cinnamon spice from oak aging.
On the palate it is full-bodied, concentrated, and elegant. The tannins are firm yet velvety, well integrated with the rich fruit. The sip is long and multi-layered, with dark chocolate, coffee, and spicy notes returning on the finish. Fresh acidity provides structure, keeping the wine balanced and harmonious rather than heavy.
Serving suggestion and food pairing
Jorge Rubio Gran Reserva Malbec Bicentenario is an excellent choice alongside hearty, flavorful dishes. It pairs well with grilled or roasted beef, lamb, game, spicy meat dishes, and aged semi-hard or hard cheeses.
Serve at 60–64 °F (16–18 °C) in a large-bowled red wine glass. Allowing the wine to breathe – a short decanting – can further open up the aromas and make the palate even more expressive.
This wine is ideal for enthusiasts who want to explore the rich, spicy, and elegant side of Argentine Malbec in a carefully matured gran reserva–style bottling.
