Rutini Coleccion Riesling – high-altitude, elegant Argentine Riesling
Rutini Coleccion Riesling comes from one of Mendoza’s most renowned producers, Rutini Wines. The grapes are sourced from the Uco Valley’s Gualtallary vineyards at high altitude, where the cooler climate and wide diurnal temperature range are particularly favorable for Riesling.
Origin and style
This wine is made from 100% Riesling, showcasing the variety’s natural freshness and aromatic intensity. The vines grow at around 1000–1200 meters above sea level on stony, well-draining soils. These conditions help produce a concentrated yet elegant wine with a firm, linear acidity.
A small portion of the wine is aged in new French oak barrels. This brings subtle structure, a rounder mouthfeel and gentle spice, while preserving the grape’s vibrant, fruit-driven character.
Color, aroma and palate
Rutini Coleccion Riesling shows a pale lemon color with delicate green reflections. On the nose, lively citrus notes – lemon and lime – are joined by green apple, orange blossom and a hint of honey. The palate is dry, fresh and aromatic, supported by well-balanced acidity.
The acidity is tense but not sharp, giving the wine a refreshing yet refined profile. The finish is long and clean, echoing the citrus, floral and lightly honeyed nuances. This balance makes it particularly suitable as a versatile food wine.
Food pairing
This Riesling pairs well with seafood – grilled fish, prawns and shellfish – as well as sushi and ceviche, where its fresh acidity complements the delicate texture of raw fish. It also matches nicely with soft, creamy cheeses such as fresh goat cheese, and with vegetable-based dishes, light meat courses, poultry and salads.
Its fresh but structured style means it works both as an aperitif and as a thoughtful choice for multi-course dinners.
Cellaring
The bright acidity from the high-altitude vineyards and the careful maturation provide good aging potential. Under suitable storage conditions, the wine can develop for several years, with its aromas gradually becoming more complex as the fresh citrus notes are joined by more evolved, mature nuances. It is therefore suitable both for immediate enjoyment and for short- to medium-term cellaring for white wine enthusiasts.
